Libreoffice part.2 [Computer]

Libreoffice is free and excellent office software. However, it is the fact that there are some behinds of Microsoft office. First point of them is that response is a little bit slow compared to Microsoft Office. You may sometimes feel irritated.
The second is font. The default fonts for English is different from Microsoft Office. You may feel some kind of strangeness.
So, if you have a certain version of Microsoft Office, you may prefer to use Microsoft Office. But if you don't have, you can use Libreoffice instead. When you need to upgrade Microsoft Windows, you might buy the updated Microsoft Office which cost too much. You can choose not to upgrade Microsoft Office and choose to use Libreoffice instead.

The trouble of Sound Chip (or Card) in Ubuntu Part4 [Computer]

The error of Pulsaudio occurred and I could not solve the problem by using PulseAudio Manager. I could not find the combination of parameters' settings.
Meanwhile, the problem was solved by using the "Sound" panel of the "Setting" of Ubuntu.
In Ubuntu 13.10, unfortunately I could not save the setting in the "Sound" panel. I tried to mute the digital audio (S/PDIF) by checking the box for mute, but when closing the panel and reopening it, the check-box was cleared. So, the error of PulseAudio occurred again.
On the other hand, in Ubuntu 14.04, I could save the setting of the "Sound" panel by checking the check-box of mute. By turning off the digital audio, I could solve the problem.
I think that failure of turning off the digital audios in Ubuntu 13.10 is a bug. In Ubuntu 14.04, the bug is fixed, I believe.

The trouble of Sound Chip (or Card) in Ubuntu Part3 [Computer]

The same problem occurs in Ubuntu 14.04 as in Ubuntu 13.10. PulseAudio (music server) occupies the CPU resource and sounds and musics cannot be played properly.
I tried the same solution as I did in Ubuntu 13.10. But it did not work.
I did try and error.
I don't know what can handle it, but error was corrected.
I guess the installation of 'PulseAudio Manager' is good for the error.
Or 'Alsamixer' setting may solve the problem. In Ubuntu 13.10, the setting of Alsamixer was not saved. But, in Ubuntu 14.04, the setting is automatically saved.

The trouble of Sound Chip (or Card) in Ubuntu Part2 [Computer]

Unfortunately, I cannot solve the problem that the SPDIF chip prevents the analog chip in the way that I described in the previous article.
So, I try another way. This way is that "amixer" is used.
"Amixer" is a command line softwear of "Alsamixer". (This is my understanding.)
By using "amixer", the SPDIF chip can be disable.
The number of the SPDIF chip is "1" in my computer.
So, the commnad line is,

/usr/bin/amixer -c 0 sset "Auto-Mute Mode" Enabled

To make this automatic on boot by executing, the command line shall be described in in "/etc/rc.local".

I hope this can solve my problem.

The trouble of Sound Chip (or Card) in Ubuntu [Computer]

I had trouble with the sound card in Ubuntu 13.10 64 bit version. The driver of sound chip (or card) ocupy the CPU resource and then the music player cannot play music properly.
In my case, SPDIF is the cause of trouble. Analog port and SPDIF compete the resource. This is the reason why the CPU resource is occupyed.
I disalbe (or mute) the SPDIF using Alsamixer which is grafical user interface of Ubuntu (Linux).
From the terminal, you can access Alasamixer by typing "alsamixer".
You can disable SPDIF by chosing SPDIF and pushing "M".
If your motherborad has two sound chips, you can select the chips by pussing "F6" in Alsamixer.
You may need to disable SPDIF in the second music chip.
I disable SPDIF of the first sound chip of my motherboard and also disable SPDIF of the second sound chip. After that, I have never trouble with the sound and music player.

I could fix the troulbe of the standby mode S3. [Computer]

970A-G46.jpgI had the trouble with my computer since I changed my motherboard from M2A-VM to 970A-G46. The trouble is that the computer sometimes fail to resume from the suspend status especially S3 standby mode. I almost give up to fix the trouble, but I found the website below.

The blog says that USB device is the cause of the trouble. So, you try to change the set-up-status of "Wake up by USB device" in BIOS settings.
I enabled the status of "Wake up by USB device". I could have the troubled fixed. My computer don't have trouble any more. I can resume my computer from S3 standby mode without fail.
I am very happy for that. And I appreciate the author of the above blog.

Linux Mint is great. [Computer]

I installed Linux Mint 14 (Nadia) in my second computer. It's quite nice. I love it. While I use this distribution, I began to think Linux mint may be better than Ubuntu Linux. I understood why a lot of users move to Linux Mint from Ubuntu Linux. Linux Mint has a very familiar interface which we use in Windows Xp or Windows Vista and 7. And one more, it's user interface is quite beautiful. Linux Mint is my favorite distribution of Linux.

Used PCs are very cheap. [Computer]

I'm considering to buy a used note book computers. They are very cheap. Off course, there are some risks such as dirty, slow and so on. However, they cost only about 20 thousand yen though they were sold at 60 thousand yen three or four years ago.
I think that they are used in offices. I guess used shops purchase a lot of used computers when companies replace their computers. So, their OS sometimes enterprise edition.
I also considering to buy the newest edition of PS3. My PS3 is old and the first edition. But, it costs about 30 thousand yen. So, I think it is wiser to buy a used note book computer.
Or should I buy a notepad such as iPad or Nexus7?
Anyway, I need to consider carefully.

Linux Mint 14 Nadia [Computer]

I installed Linux Mint 14 Nadia. It is certainly refined user interface. It's like Windows7 or Windows XP. Some people don't like Ubuntu Unity and move to Linux Mint. The user interface of Linux Mint is superior to the Unity of Ubuntu as a desktop PC. Its looks are quite beautiful.
However, I still keep using Ubuntu as a main Linux OS. I am used to it.
